The best Easter present ever!

Isn't she beautiful. We have three. Rosie, Kiki and Lindiwe. Rosie, after the chicken we kept throughout my childhood, who I loved. Kiki, whose full name is Kikirikiki, after the song by Miriam Makeba about chickens. And Lindiwe is a Xhosa name meaning 'we have waited for you'. They laid their first egg yesterday, which was a bit of a surprise, as we weren't expecting them to lay for a while.

It will be so lovely to have someone in my life for whom I am the sole carer, I won't need to worry about anyone mistreating them while I'm not there. They will have a very happy life.
